colour around the colour

this was an assignment for my art class. the actual painting is bigger than this, but i was too lazy to scan the picture four times and piece it together (stupid small scanner, lol). I might take a picture of the whole thing later, but cameral pictures don't seem to do a painting justice.

the assignment was to adjust the colour around objects so that it would be more akin to how it is perceived. for example, a purple wall behind a green bottle will look more red because of the complementary colours...etc. etc.
